Australian music charts
In Australian music charts, there is a wide variety ranging from pop to jazz, folk to classical and even the traditional aboriginal music of Australia. The traditional aboriginal music which is several thousand years old is played mostly on a musical instrument called the didgeridoo or also referred to as the Didge which is actually a narrow, long.hollow tree trunk. The natural breathing technique of human beings has a similiarity to how this instrument works – the technique is similar to a human breathing in through the nose and exhaling out of the mouth – similiarly, in this instrument, it can be blown in a continuous drone while those who are are proficient could imitate sounds like a dog yapping or the sounds of various birds – usually there is an accompaniment of rhythm sticks and drums which adds to the sound effects. Australian folk music or “bush”music came orginally from the criminals who were sent for imprisonment in Australia and owes its orgins to the English and to the Scots – this is very similar to the folk music of the Americans with a similar dance tune – this is generally played on musical instruments such as the fiddle, guitar, mandolin and the banjo with also some instruments which are not Australian such as the bouzoki. The tin whistle and the flute symbolise the the woodwind. Another instrument is the lagerphone – as one may guess, this owes its origins to the caps or tops of beer bottles – these are loosely nailed onto a wooden broomstick – this is thumped rythmically onto the ground, which povides the percussion effect. Another musical instrument is the Bodhran, a drum which was found in Ireland. Among the famous current Australian musicians whose compositions have scaled to the top of Australian music charts are Kyle Minogue, Pop Princess, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. Those who are well-known in Australia itself are Joh Butler and Ben Lee. Another good Australian performer is Paul Kelly, who is from Melbourne and is very vocal – you can not find short of having something to say – one of his admirable works is in the short movie “One night in the moon “where he has composed the music, acted and also sung – that is really multi dimensional. Australian music charts have been acclaimed internationally. Australian classical musicians perform all over the world – the most famous is arguably the classical guitarist John Williams. Some people say that there is no culture in Australia but that is not true – if one looks carefully around you, there are orchestras, ballet and opera companies of a very high quality. Australian music charts do have some very good numbers.
